Kebbi Customs, Army Aligns With Benin Customs Over Insecurity

Kebbi State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, have aligned with the Benin Republic Customs to curb criminal activities among their borders.
The agreement was reached when a delegation led by the Kebbi State Area Comptroller of Customs, Mahmoud Matawalle, alongside the Commanding Officer of One Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, Major Shola Elijah Mosses, met with officers of the Benin Republic Customs on a visit at Tsamiya/Sebgana in Benin Republic.
Comptroller Ibrahim had told the Benin Customs officers that there is need for a collaboration between security agencies of both countries to effectively secure the shared borders and enhance mutual trust.
He added that security is a collective responsibility, stressing that their visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation and promoting intelligence sharing for improved border management.
In his response, Comptroller of Customs, Wara Border in Benin Republic, Arouna Dramane, commended the initiative and described it as a welcome development.
He however, conducted visitors round their facilities for familiarisation and assured of continued collaboration.
Both parties agreed to work together in ensuring peace and security along the Nigeria- Benin borders.
