Police Rescues 2 Kidnap Victims In Kebbi

A combined team of Police and Army Personnel, with support from the local vigilantes, have rescued two Kidnap victims, killing one and arresting another of a kidnapping gang, following a gun battle in Kwari Village, Giron-Masa district of Shanga Local Government area of Kebbi State.

The incident occurred Monday night, according to a statement by the spokesman of Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar.
He said the victims were rescued unhurt after the security forces overpowered the kidnappers during the battle which forced them to abandon the victims and flee in the forest.

According to him, one dane gun and three rounds of 7.62×39mm live ammunition were recovered from the kidnappers by the security forces.

In a related development, another security personnel has killed one kidnapper in Mungadi district of Maiyama Local Government area in Kebbi state.

The incident happened when the kidnappers stormed the residence of one Alhaji Sani of Botoro Gadi Village in Mungadi district, and picked two (male and female), Muhafi A. Sani, 28 and Shamsiya Aliyu, 30.

Abubakar said that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani has commended the efforts of the combined team for the successful operation in the area.
