Be Good Ambassadors At NUGA Games – VC Charges Team BUK

The Vice Chancellor, Bayero University Kano (BUK) Professor Haruna Musa, has charged athletes representing the institution at this year’s Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) to be good ambassadors throughout the games.
Professor Musa described sports as a key factor that cements cordial relationship among various ethic groups as well as enhances unity and peace.
The Vice Chancellor who spoke through the University’s Director of Sports, Professor Rabiu Muhammad, popularly known as Chanhu, said that the university has been doing its best to take care of its athletes’ welfare, aimed at motivating and encouraging them to excel at various national and international sporting activities.
”Sports is not a do-or-die affair, participating in competitions bring joy and happiness as well as unity, peace and love among the athletes,” he explained .
Professor Musa said that over 150 male and female athletes, coaches and officials have already arrived the venue of the games, the University of Jos safely on Thursday.
He added that the institution is expected to compete in 13 events which include football, chess, Judo, taekwondo, tennis, basketball, hockey, badminton and athletics among others.
The Vice Chancellor assured that with the recent performance of the athletes in the NUGA preliminary stage held at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil, the contingent will make an impact at the NUGA proper in Jos, the Plateau State capital billed commence from November 8th to 17th, 2025.
