The Nigerian Super Eagles, in their struggle to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will begin a second litmus test in that regard when they face Gabon next month in Morocco, in a continental playoffs.

Nigeria missed out on an automatic ticket to the Mundial after South Africa won Group C with 18 points from 10 matches.

During next month’s international break, Nigeria, fourth-placed in the second-best standings, will tackle Gabon, who finished as top of the second-best teams in the qualifiers with the winners up against the winners between Cameroon and DR Congo.

The winners of this mini-tournament will advance to the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026 in Mexico, where two teams will finally secure their passage to the World Cup.
