A letter written by Bello Isa, the biological father of the late Bilyaminu Bello, who was murdered by his wife Maryam Sanda in 2017, has surfaced revealing his plea for her pardon and release.

In the letter stumbled on by our reporter, Isa appealed for clemency on behalf of his daughter-in-law, urging authorities to free her so she could care for her two young children.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Abuja alongside Maryam’s father, Garba Sanda, Isa disclosed that he had been quietly pursuing Maryam’s freedom since her conviction and death sentence for the murder of her husband.

It was also revealed that Isa had previously written to the then Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, in 2019, pleading for mercy on Maryam’s behalf.

He also swore an affidavit at the FCT High Court on June 21, 2019, reaffirming his forgiveness and asking that the prosecution be withdrawn.
