Kebbi Assembly Passes Senior Sec Education Board Bill

The Kebbi State House of Assembly (KBSHA) has passed a bill for establishing Kebbi State Senior Secondary Education Board at its plenary on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi. 

The bill was passed after scaling through first and second readings, and submitted same to the house committee on Basic and Secondary Education for legislative action. The sitting was led by the Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Usman (Lafiddan Zuru).

Speaking to journalists shortly, the chairman, House Committee on Basic And Secondary Education, Hon. Muhammed Garba Bena said the committee had studied the bill thoroughly and also invited relevant stakeholders which comprised officials from Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Secondary Schools Management Board, Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board and the Ministry of Justice, for their inputs.

Hon. Bena announced that if the bill is assented to by His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Senior Secondary Schools will have its own board while Junior Secondary Schools will remain under Universal Basic Education Board. 

“We don’t want to be left behind, after some states have already passed same method into law,” said the chairman. 

According to him, the bill will be alongside other bills for onward submission to the Executive Governor for assentment.
