According to a report by Flashscore on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Nigeria’s Flamingos are facing Brazil in the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, with both teams battling for a place in the final.
The first half ended goalless, but four Nigerian youngsters caught attention with their contributions as Akeem Busari’s side continued their efforts to overcome the Brazilian challenge.
Queen Joseph
Queen Joseph was one of the Nigerian players who stood out during the opening 45 minutes. The forward’s involvement in the attacking department was important as the Flamingos looked for opportunities to trouble Brazil’s defence.
Her presence in the frontline provided Nigeria with another attacking option, while her efforts contributed to the team’s attempt to compete against a technically gifted Brazilian side.
Esther Stephen
Esther Stephen also deserves recognition for her contribution in the first half. The defender was part of Nigeria’s backline tasked with containing Brazil’s attacking threats and preventing the South Americans from gaining an advantage.
Facing a team with considerable attacking quality required concentration and defensive discipline, and Stephen played her part as the Flamingos went into the interval without conceding.
Oluebube Umejiaku
Oluebube Umejiaku remains one of Nigeria’s most important attacking players at the tournament, and her presence against Brazil was another significant factor for the Flamingos.
The forward has already demonstrated her importance during the competition, scoring against Poland, North Korea and Mexico before winning the late penalty that secured Nigeria’s quarter-final victory over Venezuela.
Her attacking movement and ability to threaten opposing defences make her an important player in Busari’s plans as Nigeria search for a breakthrough.
Mary Dunstan
Mary Dunstan completes the list after another important contribution in Nigeria’s midfield. The midfielder has been one of the players contributing to the Flamingos’ progress in Morocco, including scoring in their 2-1 victory over Mexico in the Round of 16. Her experience from previous matches in the competition remains valuable as Nigeria look to compete with Brazil in the middle of the pitch.
