NPFL Clubs Receive Share Of First Euromatch Sponsorship Tranche

Clubs participating in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL have received their respective shares from the first tranche of the league’s Euromatch title sponsorship package.
The Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Dr Ayo Hammed Abdulrahman, confirmed this in an exclusive interview with SportsPro News at his residence in Ilorin on Thursday.
Abdulrahman clarified that the total value of the Euromatch title sponsorship deal is $7.5 million over three years, amounting to $2.5 million annually, correcting reports suggesting that the sponsorship was worth $1 million.
“Euromatch is a title sponsorship. It is not $1 million, if I must correct the impression. The entire package is $7.5 million for three years, which is $2.5 million per year.
“So, the first tranche that was received, the clubs have received their percentage. I am confirming that to you.”
The NPFL COO, however, stressed that the league has not yet received the entire sponsorship allocation for the year.
According to him, only the funds received so far have been distributed to the participating clubs based on their agreed percentage.
“Not all. I didn’t say all. The tranches that have been received, the percentage due to the clubs has been paid, but we haven’t received all for the year.”
Abdulrahman urged stakeholders to distinguish between the total Euromatch sponsorship package and the amount already received by the league, noting that describing the entire sponsorship money as having been received by the clubs could create a misleading impression.
“You have to separate it. When you say Euromatch money for clubs has been received, then it will create a bigger impression about what is expected.»
“But from the tranches that have been received in Nigeria, the percentage has been domesticated to the clubs since last week.”
The clarification comes amid discussions over the financial commitments attached to the NPFL’s new title sponsorship arrangement with Euromatch.
