Yobe North Rally: Thousands Join APC As Gov Buni, Wali, Others Mobilise For Continuity 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe North Senatorial District has intensified its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, as thousands of opposition supporters formally decamped to the ruling party during a grand rally and reception held in Nguru.
The rally, which attracted a massive gathering of APC supporters, party stakeholders and government officials from across the senatorial district, was held at the Dandal, Emir’s Palace, Nguru, in a major demonstration of the party’s organisational strength and grassroots mobilisation.
A major highlight of the event was the formal defection of Goni Usman, who contested the Machina State Constituency election under the banner of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Salisu Lawan Idrissa Jakada of Nguru Local Government Area, alongside about 6,000 of their supporters, to the APC.
The defectors cited the performance of the APC-led administration, its development programmes and what they described as its inclusive approach to governance as reasons for their decision to join the ruling party.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mai Mala Buni commended the organisers of the Yobe North APC Grand Rally and welcomed the new members into the party.
Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, Governor Buni urged APC supporters to remain united, strengthen the party at the grassroots and support all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The Governor also stressed the importance of maintaining the unity and cohesion that have continued to strengthen the APC across Yobe State.
In his remarks, the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, pledged to sustain and consolidate the development achievements recorded under Governor Buni if elected governor in 2027.
Wali said his administration would build on Buni’s policies, programmes and development objectives, with particular attention to improving the wellbeing of the people and accelerating the development of Yobe State.
He assured the people of Yobe that he would remain committed to the principles of continuity and consolidation, promising not to disappoint the electorate and to work diligently towards moving the state forward.
“Continuity is about sustaining what is working, consolidating the gains already achieved and introducing new initiatives where necessary to further improve the lives of our people,” Wali said.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, commended the defectors for joining the party and urged them to participate actively in strengthening its structures across the senatorial district.
Gadaka called on APC supporters to remain committed to the party and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The rally was attended by APC National Assembly members, State Assembly members, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen, Party Executives and other prominent stakeholders.
The strong presence of party leaders and supporters from across Yobe North provided a platform for renewed grassroots mobilisation and further consolidation of the APC’s structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event ended with renewed calls for unity, mobilisation and continuity, as APC leaders and supporters reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the party’s organisational strength across Yobe North.
