Iran Ambassador Blasts Trump’s ‘Media Games’, Exposes Why Secret Talks Never Happened
Iran’s ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali stated on Tuesday that no negotiations are currently underway between Tehran and Washington.
According to a report by Iran International on September 22, 2026, this position directly contradicts assertions made by United States President Donald Trump who claimed the two sides remain engaged in talks and are progressing toward a settlement.
Jalali characterized Trump’s public remarks concerning Iran’s readiness to negotiate as nothing more than media games designed for external consumption.
While affirming that Tehran remains open to genuine dialogue he simultaneously accused Washington of having betrayed earlier negotiation processes on two separate occasions in the past.
Jalali emphasized that the Islamic Republic stands as a consistent participant in negotiation and dialogue yet he stressed that Iranian officials detect no sincerity within the present United States administration.
He further charged that Trump deliberately publicizes claims of diplomatic engagement primarily to restrain energy prices in the period leading up to the United States congressional elections.
In addition Jalali condemned the decision by Washington to refuse visas for certain members of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s official delegation attending the United Nations General Assembly.
The excluded individuals included members of the president’s media team and Jalali labeled this action both unprecedented and openly hostile.
